The brief involved creating a website based on the topic of ‘health’. This website would need to solve user problems and be transferrable to both a desktop and mobile sized screens. Open Up is a website aimed at people who may not have been specifically diagnosed with mental health problems (or may have been) but find themselves becoming overwhelmed, stressed, anxious, unable to sleep. It provides users with advice and short activities as tips to help them overcome and settle anxious feelings or stress. It works as a motivator to help people achieve something in their day.
Unlike other apps and websites, which focus on one mental health issue and one solution, this product will give the user the opportunity to link up their symptoms of how they are feeling with some simple exercises or activities to try. This is important as a growing number of people are suffering with mental health problems and the suicide numbers are continuously growing, particularly in young people.
User research
Detailed user research and competitor analysis allowed me to develop an original concept, which suited the gap in the market and helping target users. This project included doing a lot of in-depth user research through interviews, personas and user journeys. A good understanding of this was important in order to create a website that could truly understand and solve the user's needs.
Design development and justification. Pages taken from the accompanying report to go with the project showing the design process.
